RACEHORSE REHOMING - JOSEPH

REHOMED

I ended up not formally advertising Joseph as I knew his good looks and type would be very popular amongst showjumpers and this was exactly the sort of activity that is not suited to his current soundness. Although it may not be a popular decision, his welfare was the most important thing, and keeping him well and happy into his older years was my focus. Here is what I would have written:-

Joseph is a stunning 7-year-old thoroughbred gelding, approximately 16.3hh. His body is no longer coping with being a racehorse and we are looking for a very special home for this much-loved boy. Although he looks amazing, comes from great showjumping lines, and is very loveable, he has some intermittent lameness associated with degeneration in his joints that may limit a possible post-racing career. At this stage, I am comfortable saying he would be suitable for light riding only, trail and maybe showing etc. I think he would make an amazing therapy horse, he is very people-oriented and loves kids. He has been in the paddock with other horses and would make a great herd member or companion horse.

He has been rehomed with a friend I have known for a very long time, he will be part of a herd on a Healing Sanctuary including a role as a Therapy Horse.

I could not be happier with this outcome. Here are some photos of Joseph, the first two in his racing stable and the rest in his new place.
