RACEHORSE REHOMING: COURAGE

UPDATE: Courage has been rehomed and moved into the care of this new person. He has found a fabulous new partner to write the next chapter of his life with. Both his owner and trainer made the trip to deliver him which was lovely. The owner was keen to meet his new person, check out where he would be living and tell many stories about how wonderful Courage is. I am looking forward to watching his new life unfold and the best bit is I get to still see him. Yay
Courage is an amazing standardbred gelding, approximately 15,2/15.3hh and almost 12 years old. He is a bay with a bit bling and some flecking in his coat. I have treated him for the last part of his career and he is definitely a favourite. I would love him to find his person before his birthday on 28 September and hopefully it is someone I know so I can stay in his life (selfish, I know),
He is good with kids (teenagers and little ones), chickens, ducks, dogs, horses, cockatoos, cats, cars, humans of all types, great for the vet, farrier and of course his bodyworker. He loves receiving and giving cuddles but is a fairly typical standie in that he is also quite independent. He is a good eater with an amazing work ethic and has certainly been there and done that, not alot (if anything) fazes him. It was on the cards to retire him soon and then he bowed a tendon front left to speed it up. It is a fairly low grade and he has already had 6 weeks off. He has not been lame at all. The vet has cleared him to start in-hand training at a walk. He is paddock sound and expected to make a complete recovery. He would be a cool family horse. I can see him doing trail riding, some farm work, low-level endurance, carriage driving, showing, beach rides, mounted archery etc. He would be a nice all-rounder, He has not been started under saddle but I am told the previous trainer did hop on bareback and ride him a bit. He is a pacer and like most harness horses, has been worked in all gaits including canter.
Ideally, you will need to be someone I know or can be vouched for by someone I know and experienced with the breed and retraining.
