RACEHORSE REHOMING: SCOOBY

Scooby is a fabulous, chestnut, thoroughbred gelding. He is a solid, tall boy approximately 16.3hh and a good doer. Scooby sometimes identifies as a standardbred....let me explain. Early in his career he had a normal thoroughbred life, nice stud and into a racing stable ( he lucked out with a smaller family stable). He is owned by a harness trainer, so when he had an injury that required some time off, he lived with the standies in the paddock. When he was being rehabbed to come back into racing, he spent quite a lot of time at the harness racing stables doing what harness horses do. This makes him kinda unique. I first treated him at the harness stable and then when he saw me at the thoroughbred racing stables he was so excited. Every time I was there I had to give him some lovin' (well, he let me know it was a requirement lol). He loves cuddles. When people talk about him, they smile.

My understanding is that he was a bit of a handful when he was young (like most racehorses learning) and he has matured into a lovely, mostly calm boy. Good to float, for the farrier, bodyworker and the vet. Easy to do everything with in the stable and a fun ride. Due to a previous injury, I do not think he would be suitable as a top level eventer or jumper but would excel at most other disciplines. He would be a fun horse and would give anything a go.

You will need to be experienced in retraining an off the track thoroughbred or have a trainer who can assist. Ideally, you are someone I know or can be vouched for by someone I know.

And his racename is from Zen Buddhism emphasising sudden enlightenment and the use of riddles intended to break through logical thought. It actually seems quite fitting.
