RACEHORSE REHOMING: SARA

Updated: Oct 14, 2023

UPDATE 2: Sara has been rehomed to a trusted retrainer who will see what she is good at, It is a great option for her and will set her up well for her future.

UPDATE 1: Sara has seen the vet and is ready to start back into work/rehab.

Are you looking for a sweet, big, thoroughbred mare? Sara might be the ONE.

Sara is approx 16.3hh (guessed by her trackwork rider). She is bay, 5 years old and has 15 starts. She is described as a very lovely and kind mare, with no nasties at all. She has been with the same racing team since a weanling and has been kindly started and raced. To ride she is described as comfortable and straightforward.

She is being retired due to a very small lesion on a tendon in her near fore. The prognosis is good, even to come back to racing but the owners would prefer to see her in a good non-racing home. I can tell you, the trainer is a little sad lol. She will need approximately 3 months off to allow it to heal. A vet report can be available to shortlisted people and if you want an independent vet check that is welcome.

To me, she looks like she could do pretty much anything but I think she may be particularly suited to eventing or showjumping. Having said that a life of trail riding would probably also suit. A dressage home is also more than welcome but I think she would need some variety in her training.

You will need to be experienced with off-the-track horses or be supported by someone with experience. You will also need to be someone I know or can be vouched for by someone I know.

Sara is currently located in The Oaks.

If you have any questions please ask. If you wish to apply for her please fill in the online EOI form.
