RACEHORSE REHOMING: JIMMY

Jimmy is a good looking thoroughbred gelding by Adelaide. He is 5 years old and on the smaller side at 15.2hh with a finer build. He is in a small family racing team so is used to plenty of attention, they also bred him and gets taken to races in an angle float. Jimmy has had 18 starts, they have decided to retire him rather than continue as he is not quite competitive enough. He has Galileo, Encosta De Lago and Danehill bloodlines. Jimmy has had no major injuries and is retiring sound.

His owners/trainer describe him as very sweet and kind. His trackwork rider described him as very genuine, no spook or buck. He is good on the ground and loves a scratch. She thought with some time and work he would be an awesome horse for someone. He had never had any soreness or lameness issues. He did have a change in rider at one point and showed he could either increase his energy or tone it down depending on the rider. The place where he spelled says he is easy to catch and do everything with.

He can probably do anything with the right guidance but with his temperament and kind nature, an all-rounder sounds like a good future career. I can see him being adored by a younger teenager and equally and older woman wanting a fun partner. Due to his build, he would not suit a heavier, larger rider. I can see him doing working equitation, going to the beach, trail riding, bit of jumping, some galloping, liberty, classical dressage AND he is pretty enough to show. He could also be the perfect family horse.

Ideally, you will need to be someone I know or can be vouched for by someone I know. If not, I will need a verbal reference from your vet or similar. You will be experienced in transitioning a racehorse to another career or have a trainer who can guide you. He is not for beginners or people needing a confidence booster. A vet check is welcome at your expense if you want it.
