UPDATE: Dozer has found a fabulous home with a "old" friend who already has another OTTTB from me. Dozer will be retrained to become an Interschools mount for her grand daughter. AND I will still get to treat him....yay.
Dozer is a loveable horse, he likes people and is gentle. He is a rising 6-year-old, bay, thoroughbred gelding approximately 16hh/16.1hh and a solid guy with strong legs. He has a medium-length back and one small white sock on his left hind. Dozer has had 29 starts.
Dozer's last race was Saturday 14 March and when I saw him today, despite being race fit, he happily walked on a loose lead beside me, respectful of my space. One of his trackwork riders said, " He is the ultimate gentleman to ride and handle on the ground. He is an old soul, he was our favourite go-to reliable nanny horse on the track. If we had a horse that needed a buddy to gain some confidence on the track, it was, send them around with Dozer, he'll look after them. He is a very straightforward ride soft and even in the contact. He was on occasion strong if partnered with certain horses in fast work. I actually wanted him to stay on as a lead track pony and a quiet mount to teach people how to ride trackwork. I would love to watch his life outside racing unfold." Pretty much everyone I spoke to had similar things to say.
Dozer would be the ultimate all-rounder, suitable for most disciplines but would really love variety. Due to his heavier build he may not be suitable for very high level eventing, but would likely be competitive at the lower levels. He is sound and has not had any major injuries. The only thing that may be difficult if you agist is that he is a mild windsucker. For me, this does not detract from his awesomeness at all but I understand some places prefer not to have windsuckers, He gets on well with other horses and was always spelled with others. I have treated him his whole racing career and he has only had minor issues consistent with a horse that is racing. I have never heard anyone say he bites or kicks and certainly have never experienced this with him myself. Oh, and his racing owner adores him and visits him daily. I could go on for ages about this boy but I am sure you get the picture.
You will need to be someone I know or can be vouched for by someone I know. A vet check is welcome if you wish
To meet him you will need to fill in an Expression of Interest Form
