ASSISTED REHOMING: BOUDHI

Boudhi is a 5-year-old, bright bay 16.1hh thoroughbred gelding who I originally placed in his current home a year ago, straight off the track. He is stunningly handsome. Unfortunately, the circumstances of his current person have changed, and she reached out to me to assist in finding him a new partner.

Boudhi has been spending the last year "unracehorsing". He has done some groundwork focused on improving his proprioception and balance, respecting personal space and teaching him how to use his body in a new way. He has been handled every day and has been rugged and hard fed. He has been sensible through a couple of major floods and more recently after the loss of his paddock mate. He has had a dressage saddle on, and the basics are in place for him to be restarted with a new career in mind. Due to weather, flooding and some health issues with his human, he has not been ridden since he left the racing stable. He has mostly been transported in a truck, so it would be advisable to retrain on a float. He is a very good doer and not a fussy eater. His person describes him as "young and healthy, he will be wonderful for someone keen and experienced. He is sweet and curious now and really enjoys being pampered but is ready to be ridden, he's had that extra year to mature, relax and be a horse, which I think will be a great benefit to him and a new owner." He is quiet, comes when he is called, good with other horses, fences and for the farrier. He ties up well, is good to wash and groom. He has been to the beach while racing.

We both feel he would be suitable for classical dressage, pleasure, trail riding, working equitation, showing, adult riding club, beach rides, liberty etc. He is best suited to a home that can provide a variety in their training and needs one person to build a trusting relationship with. He would not be suited to a variety of riders like a riding school but would be OK as a family horse. The type of person we think would match his kind and curious personality is someone soft, kind, quiet, experienced, clear and consistent in their communication. He could also make an amazing para-equestrian horse.

You will need to be experienced in retraining an ex-racehorse and ideally be someone I know or can be vouched for by someone we know. He is Equimillions Eligible. He is for sale for $1500, which reflects his current paddock condition. The perfect forever home is more important, so the price may be negotiable.
