Equine Sports Massage

Your horse is an athlete, why not treat it like one. Some horses are more naturally gifted than others, but the common denominator between them all, is that the musculoskeletal system equates to over 60% of their body weight. This system is responsible for movement and yet it is the muscles that are often overlooked when it comes to preventative maintenance and injury rehabilitation.

Sports Massage can help locate and relieve knots and other muscular issues that may be limiting your horse's range of motion and therefore performance. Minor injuries and adhesions caused by over exertion and/or overuse can be broken down quickly and effectively. It can help prepare the equine athlete for peak performance, drain away fatigue, relieve swelling, reduce muscle tension, promote flexibility and prevent injury. Sports Massage can include pre-event, post-event and maintenance techniques that promote greater athletic endurance and performance, lessening injuries and reducing recovery time.

Stretching

One of the ways to maintain muscular health and therefore prevent strain injuries is by stretching. Human athletes have long understood the benefits of stretching, especially related to improving athletic ability and performance. Generally stretching is incorporated into a Sport Massage and we can teach you some simple technique to help keep you horse supple. You will be amazed at the difference it makes.

Acupressure & Energy Healing Treatments

Horses respond incredibly well to energy healing because they respond instinctively, they do not question what their body is experiencing and therefore accept the healing.

Laser Therapy

Low Level Laser Therapy, commonly known as LLLT or photonic therapy, is a form of phototherapy which involves the application of low power monochromatic and coherent light to injuries and lesions to stimulate healing. LLLT is used to increase the speed, quality and tensile strength of tissue repair, resolve inflammation, and give pain relief. It is an attractive form of treatment for equine athletes, due to the prospect of shorter recovery and lay-off times. Elementals Equine Therapies has a lightweight, portable unit to enable treatment to be carried out in any locations. It is great as an adjunct or stand alone therapy.

Tissue Salt Treatments

Modern horses are subject to numerous environmental stresses, soil acidity leading, loss of minerals, devitalised diets, pollution, malabsorption, hard training schedules, overly processed and devitalised foods and long-term stabling. Tissue Salts work at a basic cellular level and provide the means whereby the actual cells are able to use organic substances (food) and water to operate normal functions within the body as well as repair it in cases where mineral levels may be depleted.
